Ontario Building More Modern Heath Care Facilities at
Peterborough Regional Health Centre
Investments in upgrades and infrastructure modernization will connect
more families to care in their community
Peterborough — The Ontario government is investing $106,244 this year to upgrade and repair infrastructure at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), to ensure people can connect to the care they need, close to home, for years to come.
“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is building stronger communities by making record investments to improve healthcare facilities right here in Peterborough-Kawartha and across Ontario,” said Member of Provincial Parliament for Peterborough-Kawartha Dave Smith. “Through the Your Health plan, we are moving quickly to expand and modernize Ontario’s hospitals, allowing patients and their families to connect to the quality care they need, when and where they need it,” MPP Smith added.
This funding will help health system partners like PRHC to address urgent infrastructure needs such as upgrading or replacing roofs, windows, security and fire alarm systems and emergency generators to ensure people can continue to connect to care in safe, modern facilities.
“On behalf of the hospital’s leadership team and Board of Directors, I would like to thank MPP Dave Smith, Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health for this targeted infrastructure funding,” said Jennifer Taylor, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “Hospitals across the province continue to see increasing costs related to patient volumes and acuity, as well as a growing need for investment into the future of acute care and the broader healthcare system. PRHC welcomes the ongoing support of the province to help us continue offering patients in our community and region the care they need, closer to home.”
The Ontario government is investing more than $228 million this year to support critical infrastructure upgrades, and repairs at 129 hospitals and 58 community health care facilities across the province.
“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is making record investments in the health care system to ensure people are able to access care at state-of-the-art hospitals and community health providers,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This year our government is investing an additional $20 million to allow facilities to modernize and make critical upgrades, ensuring people can connect to the care they need, when they need it, close to home.”
